Adopt a Bat Box. It's Free.
Have a tree or a side of a house for a bat box?
Let us know if you have on your property:
a tree with an exposed vertical trunk, clear of branches, facing south, at least 14 to 18 feet off the ground. Your tree should not be adjacent to a busy road or have cars parked below it. Your tree should not be in a small fenced backyard if you have dogs. Oak trees are not suitable.
a side of a building facing south on the first floor, away from windows, not above a ground-floor doorway, and not situated near outside tables, seating, or a BBQ.
These areas must be clear of power and communication lines and offer bats a clear flight path to your bat box from the south.
The bat box cannot be near bright outdoor lights, as bats prefer darkness for roosting.
